My tutoring approach is one of coaching, mentoring, and helping the student understand exactly what level and detail of help that they need to get ahead. Combining the personal discipline learned during 20 years as a Naval Officer with the unique expertise learned in one-on-one communication with peers and sailors as well as tutoring my five children, I can help you or your child succeed. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a Math Minor, and a National Merit Scholarship for my SAT scores help qualify me for tutoring your student in test prep and many other subjects. My individualized tutoring methods also raised one student's Physics grade from a C to an A in one semester. ¡Se habla español! I specialize in standardized test preparation. My first SAT Math student raised her score 50 points, and my first overall SAT student raised his overall score 110 points. I also tutor mathematics (basic arithmetic through differential equations), chemistry, physics, Spanish, and general academic/learning skills. I bring a genuine love of life long learning and a total commitment to my work that my students have described as "enjoyable and very helpful." Learning should be fun, but should also, at times, bring "Instant" results. I work to keep positive encouragement in every lesson, tutoring, or test preparation session, coupled with measurable progress in the student's level of understanding.
